LASU Students Demand Justice for AZEEZAT

Students of Lagos State University are mourning the tragic death of a female student, AZEEZAT, who was allegedly killed in a road accident involving a vehicle. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for justice across the university community.

According to reports gathered by the LASU Champion Press Club, the student was reportedly knocked down by a driver and died at the scene. The driver was subsequently taken into custody for investigation.

However, confusion and tension arose following allegations of misinformation regarding the handling of the case by law enforcement authorities.

Alleged Police Miscommunication Sparks Outrage

Students who visited Igando Police Station to follow up on the matter were reportedly informed that the case had been transferred to Idimu Police Station. Upon arrival at Idimu, they were allegedly told that no such case had been documented there, prompting further concern and frustration among the students.

The development heightened tensions within the university community, with many questioning the transparency and efficiency of the investigative process. The case has since drawn the attention of the Lagos State Police Command, as students continue to demand clarity and accountability.

36th LASU PRO Addresses Students

Amid the growing protests, Comrade Akano Abdulmalik, the 36th Public Relations Officer (PRO) of LASU, addressed the situation in a TikTok video released yesterday. In his statement, he highlighted the difficulties students encountered while seeking justice for the deceased.

According to him, students were directed from Igando Police Station to Idimu Police Station, only to be informed upon arrival that no such case had been reported there. This alleged miscommunication intensified students’ dissatisfaction and fueled ongoing demonstrations.

He emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and swift justice for the late AZEEZAT.

Call for Calm and Peaceful Protest

While emotions remain high, student leaders have urged their colleagues to remain calm and law-abiding as efforts continue to secure justice.

Students are encouraged to:

Remain peaceful and avoid violence.

Rely on verified and credible sources of information.

Participate only in lawful and organized protests.

Respect public safety and university regulations.

Stand united in demanding justice and accountability.

The LASU Champion Press Club calls on relevant authorities to conduct a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation into the incident.

This is a developing story. Further updates will be provided as more details emerge.
